Times have changed and winds have shifted, but the Palace on Wheels cruises along in its unique style, the kind only the Maharajas of years and years could have perpetuated and enjoyed. Today, of course, each traveller on board is treated like royalty in his or her own right.The exquisite & exclusive Palace on Wheels has luxurious cabins, wall-to-wall carpeting, a well stocked bar, two dining cars, and a personalised service, in fact everything that could comprise of heaven on earth for a whole week.

Feel like royalty on board the Palace on Wheels, a completely self sufficient train. Fully air-conditioned, the train comprises of 14 deluxe saloons, equipped with amenities to enhance the pleasure of travelling. Each saloon is a combination of 4 twin bedded chambers, channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot & cold water and a shower. There are four coupés to each coach, with wall-to-wall carpeting, a lounge, a library, a bar with a stock of the finest spirits and two dining cars - the Maharaja and the Maharani - serving Continental, Indian and Rajasthani cuisine. What`s more, each saloon has personal attendants or “Khidmatgars“, who are always at your service.

ITINERARY:
Delhi - Jaipur – Jaisalmer – Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambor) – Chittaurgarh – Udaipur - Bharatpur – Agra - Delhi


Day 1 Wednesday: Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station Reporting Time 16:00 hrs. Departure 18:30 hrs. Dinner is served on the train between 19:30 to 22:30 hrs.

Day 2 Thursday: Jaipur Arrival 02:00 hrs. Departure 19:30 hrs. The city is one of the most well planned cities of the world and is known as the Pink City. It was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Explore the city in an air-conditioned coach. Pass by Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, which is a five storeyed structure with carved trellis work, and also visit Amber Fort, 8 kms. away, where rides on caparisoned elephants add to the ambience. Shop for Jaipur`s famous jewellery, handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles. After lunch drive to City Palace, home of the erstwhile royal family. Across the road is the Jantar Mantar, observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh.

Day 3 Friday: Jaisalmer Arrival 08:15 hrs. Departure 23:00 hrs. Breakfast on the train. Jaisalmer lies in the heart of the Thar desert. The city was founded in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal. The yellow sandstone fort is an imposing sight, towering magnificiently on the shimmering sandscape. Discover the painstakingly latticed havelis (houses of rich persons) with their grand facades, which are fine examples of the stone carver`s skill. After lunch go for an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam.

Day 4 Saturday: Jodhpur Arrival 07:00 hrs. Departure 15:30 hrs. Breakfast on the train. Jodhpur is city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions. This is the second largest city of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha in and is known for its rock solid Mehrangarh Fort. The grand Palaces are impreseive examples of architectural excellence. After lunch at Umaid Bhavan Palace Hotel visit Jaswant Thada, a group of white marble royal cenotaphs.

Day 5 Sunday: Sawai Madhopur - Ranthambhor - Chittaurgarh Arrival 04:00 hrs. Deaprture 10:30 hrs. One can almost sense a life of the wilderness as the Palace on Wheels arrives in Sawai Madhopur, a city named after its founder Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I. A visit is arranged to the Ranthambhor National Park, located amids the ruins of the 10 th century Fort. This santuary is considered the country‘s best for observing and photographing of wild animals. The Park covering an area of 392 sq. kms., and is home for more than 300 species of birds and of tigers, hyenas, ratels, jackals, foxes etc.

Chittaurgarh Arrival 16:00 hrs. Departure 20.00 hrs. Lunch on the train. Visit to the fort, lauded in legends of valour and chivalry. Chittor was ravaged and plundered thrice and the womenfold performed „Jauhar, (self burning in open fire) to protect their honour.

Day 6 Monday: Udaipur Arrival early morning. Departure 20:00 hrs. Visit Shilpgram, Arts and Crafts village selling articles from four states. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites of Udaipur are the dream-like marble palaces - the Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola. Lunch at Lake Palace Hotel. Thereafter visit to Sahelion-ki Bari, the Royal Garden Park. After evening tea the coach will take you back to the Palace on Wheels winding up a day full of delights.

Day 7 Tuesday: Bharatpur Arrival 06:30 hrs. Departure 09.00 hrs. After breakfast visit to the world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place for thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, water Fowls and other species of birds.
Agra – Arrival 14:30 hrs, Departure 21:00 hrs. Visit Fatehpur Sikri, the best planned city of its time built by Akbar the Great with red sand stone. Within the enclosure is a mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor, and dedicated to Sheikh Salim Chishti, a Muslim saint who blessed the Emperor with a son. Then you proceed to Agra. After lunch visit the Red Fort and arrive at the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. A pristine monument of undying love. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Agra is known for its splendid marble inlay work. Departure for Delhi at 21:00 hrs.

Day 8 Wednesday: Delhi After a night's sleep in comfort on board arrive in Delhi next morning approx. at 07:00 hrs. Let the pleasant memories of the past week linger on your mind for a long, long time.

Children under 5 years are free. Children between 5-12 years pay 50%.

Note: 10% surcharge shall be levied on departures during Christmas (23.12.09) and New Year (30.12.09). Slite changes in the programme may be possible in the course of time. We reserve the right to revise the Rates during any season.

Tariff includes: inclusive of travel/catering/conducted sightseeing/entrance fees at monuments /parks /palaces/cultural programmes/camel and elephant ride/boat ride/rickshaw ride and for still cameras.

Not included in the price: 3,09% Service tax, the services not mentioned in the programme: Visa fees, International Flights, transfers, Hotel Accommodation and sight seeing in Delhi, liquor, laundry charges, video cameras and personal purchases.

Payments:booking will only be considered effective when an advance of 50% of the total value per person is received by us at the time of the booking. If the balance 50% is not received before 60 days of departure, booking will automatically be cancelled. Cancellation charges will be regulated as below.


Cancellations: 10% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure, 20% of ticket value 59 - 30 days prior to departure, 100% of ticket value 29 – 0 days prior to departure. No refund for sudden brake of Journey..

OTHER FACILITIES: Doctor on call at the next station. Money exchange facility available. All credit cards accepted. Adequate safety and security arrangements. Complimentary mineral water on board in the coach, during sightseeing and at hotels.
